December 2020

The season is starting pretty well. It's been a reasonable November start and December hasn't been too bad.  I only got up 1 day so far to Crystal and it was pretty good.  Sunny.  I had a very short run at Alpental and it was just to see how my knee did and it wasn't good, so I stopped. 

Going to be ready to go and will have a new pair of Head carving skis.  I'll let you know how it goes. Meanwhile, the Pandemic is here and it take reservations to get on hills all over the country. Crystal is usually sold out, so it's going to be tough to get on. 

One day in June, 2020

The mountain (Crystal) opened again for a quickie in the year of the plague.  I went alone and had a good time, met Dan Griffith of Endless Turns who may be a resource in the future.

A wonderful February, A very nice March and then the world pandemic of Covid 19 which closed all the ski areas on March 14.

The year was pretty good. I had an Epic Pass, I was getting up at least once a week, I developed a relationship with David Chandler who loves to ski and we went up twice, I went with Tina Templeman and David Day, and it was working.

I was skiing fine, on many a nice day. 
Herschel and I skied a bunch together, we went with the Daytons too.  We had lot's' of nice sunny days, a bit of powder, the base was great, it was a perfect spring build up and then.....The fucking Covid 19 virus smashed the country and the world.  All ski areas to speak of were closed in the US and Europe.  Wham.  Now.  Closed.  

Julia came out and we had some great skiing, save for the fact that her feet couldn't take her boots any longer.  We had a very good day at Crystal on whatever day that was when she came out.

Wild February 2020

Crystal had massive snow early this month.  Over 30 " and then land slides closed 410.
Opened on the 11th, and I went with Hershel Parnes.  It was groomed from wall to wall, we were also skiing some of the uncut, and then the fog descended.  Still good.

It was only my 5th day.  24 F and cloudy today, with a 110" base. Julia coming in for the PD weekend.  Should be a shit show up there.....

Snow. Temperature falling to around 28 by 5pm. Wind chill values between 19 and 24. Southwest wind 8 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Tonight

Snow. Low around 23. Wind chill values between 9 and 17. West wind around 18 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Sunday

Snow. High near 28. Windy. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

January 27, I've skied 3 times

Note to Self:  If I don't write in this thing, I will forget the year!
Had a December day with Alicia at Mammouth.  The 16th I believe.  Jin went too. 

Then have had 3 days at Crystal.  One with Julia and 2 on my own.  It has started snowing in January and will go down as a very good month.  Mid month was cold and deep, which I missed of course.  I got a good day on the 14 and again on the 16th with Tina Templeman and David Day. 

4 days and I have an Epic Pass1
